One Room Down, Bathroom, Foyer and Living Room To Go!

We painted...our room at least! The remainder of the apartment is white but the room that will be ours was a weird gold color. We both weren't fond of it very much so decided to change it! We found the $5.00 gallon of "whoops" paint at Home Depot in a light grey color. I think it will look great with our bedroom furniture, which is black. Now the trouble is finding bedding that we both like without making it look too girly or too masculine!!

Here are some pictures from our painting fun!

Dress Shopping

Happy Valentines Day! <3

Jonas and I had to work an event on Valentine's Day so we celebrated on February 15th this year instead of the 14th. Last night we went to Macaroni Grill in Columbia. It has been a long time since the two of us have just gone out together, I can't tell you how nice it was!

The shower has been on my mind recently as April is coming up and I need to find a dress! I was able to find a dress that went along with our color scheme for the rehearsal dinner from South Moon Under. It's a gorgeous paisley dress and I'm thinking about pairing it with a gold heel and accessories-something different but goes along with the theme!

Here is what I have in mind:

Gold Strappy Sandal

Now the bridal shower, I need to find something that is cute but that is also April appropriate. More than likely it won't be super hot in Maryland in early April so I have to find a dress I can throw a sweater on with and still look good! I'm not sure what I want yet but here is some ideas, feedback please!!!!!!

Home Decorating 101

entrance to our place! ------------->

Now that we are only a little over 4 months from the big day (HOORAY), I have noticed that people are more frequently asking, "so where are you guys going to live"? The answer to that question is in Ellicott City in the basement of my grandparents house. Right now there is what used to be the office in which my grandfather's building business first started-Dorsey Family Homes. My uncle now owns the company after my Pop Pop retired and they are now over in Waverly Woods in Woodstock, MD in a real office building.
I will post pictures of the empty space soon but until then I wanted to share ideas about what to do with it. The walls are white, white, white, and white. I want to paint but want to be careful not to choose anything that will make it seem smaller than it is, if that is possible.

Decorations!!

After the trip yesterday to the Dollar Tree, carrying two heavy boxes of vases through Westminster Town Mall (thank God I didn't drop them!) and getting them to my car...I got "the bug" and drove over to Ikea in White Marsh, MD to get the remainder of centerpiece..pieces..for our reception. I threw one together in the car as soon as I got into the parking lot. Jonas and I love how they turned out and I hope on lookers will appreciate the uniqueness of them! We saved a couple hundred of dollars on flowers by going this route. The Picture below shows the color swatches from Davids Bridal-Serene Blue and Champagne.

Let me know what you think! Comments are greatly appreciated!

Snow Day!

Happy Snow Day! This week I am with my cousins in Eldersburg, Maryland while their parents, my aunt and uncle, are on a cruise Mexico bound! Jealous? Yes!! Carroll County Public Schools decided to give the kids a day off for the "snow" on the ground, so we are all taking it easy today. I'd like to thank my schedule this semester waking me up at normal 6:45am when in fact, I didn't have to...very frustrating!

On wedding notes-today I am headed to pick up the 25 glass vases for our centerpieces!!! Wahoo! We were able to get 25 for $1.00 a piece-thank you Dollar Tree! They are 7.5" round vases that we are putting the "flowers" into. I'm excited to get them and make it happen in real life, not just in my head. I'll take a picture of the finished product and put them on here, stay tuned.

Speaking of photography, I wanted to give a shout out to our photographer. His name is Michael Broschard and he works out of Philadelphia. His company's name is MichaelProPhoto. The picture up above and many more were taken on a beautiful, and HOT day in the City of Brotherly Love. He did a great job! Please check his website out and see the other beautiful shots he has taken at other weddings and events. While you're there you can check out our engagement pictures! Jonas and I can't wait to see him and his co-photographer Brian again in June for more great pics! Let me know if you or anyone you know are getting married in the near future. He is great to work with and I would happily give his information out for anyone interested!

Reception Decor!

SMYCKA Dried bouquet
Since our wedding is on the large side, putting a floral centerpiece on each table is not looking like it is going to be an option for us. While giving ideas to a florist and having it appear on our wedding day would be less stressful, we have thought of other alternatives and I have to say, I'm excited to see the results! We have found a great "arrangement" from Ikea which we will be using on each table and the Crown Plaza has round mirrors which are available for our use.

Jonas and I went to a bridal happy hour at the hotel not too long ago and a lighting company came in and had uplighting on the reception walls. I loved it! I'm hoping to get the same company do our reception in blue lighting and possibly arrange some special effects for the dance floor!

Welcome!

Hi All!

So I feel like I have so much to say about how excited Jonas and I are that we are almost 5 months away from being "The Mitchell's." There is so much to tell since we have been planning pretty much the day after we got engaged. We were on vacation and we went to Michael's in Myrtle Beach, SC to get things to send out to the bridesmaid's, asking if they would do me the honor of being in our wedding! We put them together on the kitchen table of our beach condo-it was so fun!!
I can honestly say that I have THE BEST fiance' in the world. God has really blessed me with someone so willing and able to help me with all of this planning!!!

So since I am starting this blog a little late, I figured I would catch up everyone interested in my so called life and give you some updates as to what we've accomplished so far!!

#1 THE DATE/LOCATION

We will exchange our vows to one another (written ourselves) on June 19, 2009. The ceremony will be held at LifePoint Church in Reisterstown, Maryland. We have a great church family! The reception will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Timonium, Maryland. They have just newly renovated the hotel and it is stunning! I can't wait to see the room filled with everyone we love! I get chills thinking about it :-)

#2 THE HONEYMOON

We got a great deal from Liberty Travel on our honeymoon to Punta Cana, which is located in the Dominican Republic. We will be staying at the brand new Majestic Elegance Punta Cana. The resort is all inclusive and offers several restaurants on site, a spa (yes please!), swim up bar, jacuzzi in our room, the whole nine. We will be leaving for our first trip as husband and wife on Monday June 21, two days after we are married (staying in MD for the weekend to spend some extra time with family and friends who took off and flew into town). We will return on the following Sunday and are planning to take that Monday off too so we can set up our house a little bit (will describe details to that later in this little post).
#3 Our Colors Scheme

As soon as we were engaged (and a little beforehand I must confess) I was thinking about colors for our wedding, trying to incorporate a palate that would compliment both of our personalities and likes. At first, we decided on royal blue and salmon orange but after seeing the two colors together when we went on the hunt for bridesmaid dresses, we decided we needed something softer. After comparing dresses and colors which worked together, Serene blue and Champagne is what we went with.

#4 Bridesmaid Attire/Flower Girl Dresses

Back in early fall, two of my best friends, Lindsay and Kristi (both in the wedding) and Laurie Mitchell (Jonas's mom) and myself went down to David's bridal to look at dresses. We decided on a simple tea length dress with a sash across the waist in champagne. At first, since I have two maid
of honors (My sister Carrie & Lindsay) we were thinking about having their dresses be opposite the bridesmaid but recently we decided it would be too busy and decided against it. I can't wait to see everyone in them!!! It's going to be a great day and I hope everyone likes the dress enough to wear it again. I tried to not make it a 27 Dresses type of dress that would go in a closet never to be seen again, we shall see!! The picture to the left is the color of our dress and the sash but we are going with a different style and are not using the under skirt in champagne, just the sash around the waist. What do ya think??
Sweet Beginnings - L102

Our little princess's will be wearing an adorable dress I found from DeMario Bridal in Westminster, Maryland. They are white and have flowers which were were able to match the sash on the bridesmaid's dresses-super cute!

#5 THE DRESS

In September, my mother, future mother in law and grandmother travelled to Glen Burnie, MD to David's Bridal. We traced the ailes picking out dresses, some tailored, some lacy, some with beads, etc. I tried on dress after dress and it seemed that the day could end with us walking out with frusteration at one another for not all agreeing on one dress but luckily, that wasn't the case! It was about the 10th dress and I tried it, loved it! I turned around and from the look on everyone else's face, they loved it to. NO MORE! We all had someone different ideas of what the dress should look like so when there was agreement, I jumped all over it! Order away! Out of caution, I won't explain what it looks like for fear of my FI looking at the blog at somepoint. I will say this, I feel like a beautiful bride whenever I put it on and I can't wait to see Jonas waiting for me. Since we ordered that day in September, I received the dress in early December and it is now at Just Sew Sew in Westminster, MD getting alterations made. I'm hoping I won't fluctuate too much in weight from now to June! I'm not going to be one of those brides who kills herself trying to lose weight for wedding day. I actually weigh 5 lbs less than I did when I graduated from high school, so although some of the lacrosse/volleyball muscle is not what it used to be, I am not complaining!

#4 Flowers

I went to the florist in early January. We are using Ripple's Florist located in our hometown-Eldersburg, Maryland. We sat down and I think she could tell I had no idea what I was talking about!! I'm clueless when it comes to flowers but Tammi was very helpful! Shoutout! Since our wedding colors are blue and champagne it left us looking at flowers that either were blue or could be dyed blue. After looking through books and pictures, we decided that hydrangea's would be the best choice. For the girls, they will carry blooms of blue hydrangea's wrapped in ribbon. My bouquet will be all white with mini calla lilies, hydrangea's and stock (whatever that is). The guys boutonnieres will be light blue delphinium's. I learned that hydrangea's, when cut off of their bloom do not last for very long. That is why we chose a different flower for the fellas to wear.

I know everything will come together! That is the info about what we have going on so far...stay tuned for more details :-)
